Find Your Mentors 101:365×2

All of us are given a mentor upon entering education. Who that person is, why were they selected, and what kind of relationship it will be, are partially decided before you even arrive.

I have heard a long list of horror stories about how terrible teacher mentors can be. So what I suggest to new teachers is this: find your own mentors. Be respectful of your assigned mentor, but if they aren’t providing the mentoring you need, go find people who can offer you the chance to grow and develop into the great teacher you know you can be!

Whether it’s in your building, district, or digitally, find mentors that encourage you, that inspire you, and challenge you to grow!
