I recently saw a disgraceful letter in which a school notified their parents that due to the need to make their Kindergarten students college and career ready, they were cancelling the annual show.
It made me think that if this letter is genuine, who would say such a thing?
What educator would sign such a thing? We need to remember what our job is as educators. We need to remember that we serve children not students. There are so many things that kids learn from interacting, playing, creating, and to think that taking that from them makes them more college or career ready, is sadly mistaken.
Never forget who you are and what you stand for as an educator. When you start and throughout your career do not forget to ask yourself: Who do I want to be?
